What we measure on storefronted.com, why, and how to switch it off.

Who we are

What we measure

• Which pages are viewed, how far they are scrolled, which buttons are clicked, and whether a form is started or sent. We never record what you type into a form.
• Page speed and page errors, so we can fix them.
• Session recordings of how the page is used, with every input field masked.

We use PostHog (its EU region: data is stored in the European Union) and Umami (run by us). Neither is used for advertising.

Cookies

Our analytics sets one first-party cookie (name starting with ph_) so a return visit is not counted as a new visitor. It is not used for advertising and is never shared with ad networks.

Links in our emails

When we reply to you, a link to your website draft may end in a short code such as ?r=ab12c. It tells us that the business we wrote to opened its draft, so we can follow up at the right time. You can delete the code from the link; the page works the same.

What we never send to analytics

Your email address, phone number or the text of your messages. A business we contacted is known to us by its name and town only.

Where a business’s details come from

When we write to a business, its name, address and email come from public sources only: state business registries and public business listings — Google Maps, the business’s own website or its public Facebook page. We never buy lists and never make up an email address. The one change we make is correcting an obvious misspelling of a common email provider (gnail.com becomes gmail.com), and every address is checked before we write to it.

How long we keep it

PostHog keeps page events and session recordings for the retention period set in our PostHog project, then deletes them. Umami counts carry no cookies and no contact details; they are kept until we delete them.

Switch it off or have it deleted

Open storefronted.com/?optout=1 once and nothing is measured on this browser again. If your browser sends Do Not Track, we measure nothing. To have anything we hold about your business deleted, write to hello@storefronted.com with the business name. We delete it, stop writing to you and confirm by reply.
